Family Picnic & Fireworks Info
Willowsford’s Independence Day celebration is tomorrow Friday, July 2nd and we couldn’t be more excited to see you all there! Join family, friends, and neighbors for a joyous gathering in the spirit of community to celebrate our Nation’s birthday. Below are a few things you should know for the event.
Family Picnic & Fireworks begins at 6 PM and concludes with a patriotic fireworks display beginning at approximately 9:30 PM. Gates open at 4 PM; please arrive no earlier. Items placed in the event space prior to 4 PM will be removed. For your safety, please do not attempt to stand, sit or walk in areas marked as off-limits during the fireworks event.
Tickets & Guests
Online registration has closed. Those that registered for the event received ticket(s) through CivicRec. Tickets are electronic and can be found in your "confirmation receipt" email or by logging into your CivicRec account. Each registered household member is assigned their own individual ticket. Tickets will be scanned for event entry and must be printed or shown via mobile device. Guest tickets may be purchased upon arrival: 4 guests per household at $5 per guest. Credit card payments only, please.
For those who have been to Family Picnic & Fireworks in prior years, entry will look a bit different this year. There will be one entrance line in front of The Lodge main entrance. To keep the line moving, please have tickets ready to be scanned and IDs out. To exit the event space (or re-enter after initial check-in) please use one of the two side exits which will be monitored by staff and clearly marked.
Please be sure to bring your ID. A 21+ wristband must be worn by all attendees over the age of 21. ID will be checked upon entering the event space and will be required for all residents and guests over the age of 21.
Grills, tents, and pets are not permitted. Umbrellas (no larger than 6’ diameter), picnic blankets, and chairs are welcome. Items placed in the event space prior to 4 PM will be removed.
Please note, the Fitness Center and Willow Lake close at 2 PM on event day. Any vehicle(s) left in the Fitness Center or Boat House parking lots after this time are at risk of being towed. Parking attendants, Loudoun County Sheriff deputies, and signage will clearly indicate areas available for parking around The Lodge and Grassland Grove Drive. Please do not attempt to park in the areas designated as off-limits, such as Braddock Road and the roped-off section of Grassland Grove near the fireworks set-off location. If vehicles are parked in prohibited areas on Grassland Grove, fireworks may not proceed and vehicles will be towed.
These will be available for use in the parking areas by the bocce courts and food trucks. Pool restrooms will be available only for residents using the pool and require a key fob to access. The Lodge, Fitness Center, and Boat House will be closed during the event.
Lodge Pool & Kayaks
Pools will operate under the normal hours of 11 AM to 8 PM. Standard guest policy applies (max 4 guests/household at $3/guest). Pool party space rentals are not available. Pool capacity limits apply, and access may be denied if pool capacity is reached. Kayaks will not be available after 2 PM or during the event.

The following food trucks will have fare available for purchase. Unfortunately, we have had some last-minute cancellations so feel free to pack a family picnic to avoid lines.
- Pho Wheels DC
- The Shell Shack
- Bodie’s Bagels & Tacos
- The Inside Scoop

- Tip Top Tap Truck (beer and wine)
Capital Effect will be performing for the duration of the event in front of Willow Lake. In addition, a "Bubbleologist" will be strolling the venue, entertaining children.
Inclement Weather Plan
Family Picnic & Fireworks will be held, rain or shine, at The Lodge on July 2nd. If there is light rain or scattered showers, the fireworks may be delayed for a short period. In the case of high winds, lightning and thunder, the fireworks will be canceled, however, other activities will be moved to covered areas as much as possible and we will enjoy a holiday celebration on a smaller scale. We appreciate your understanding if the weather does not cooperate!
