Jr. Chef AcademyKids can cook and entertain! Willowsford introduces Jr. Chef Academy, a special series of classes teaching children how to plan, cook for, and throw a party. Kids will learn how to cook seasonally, use the Willowsford Farm harvest, a variety of key cooking techniques, party planning and party etiquette. The series finale will be a special celebration, hosted and catered by the kids, followed by a graduation ceremony. The Jr. Chef Academy per-child price includes an invitation for one special guest to attend the party and graduation ceremony.

Final Farewell to PoolsLots of smiles were had and memories made at Sycamore Pool, Lodge Pool, and Willow Grove Splash Park this year. While we expected Labor Day weekend to conclude our pool season, we are pleased to announce that Sycamore and Lodge Pool will be open this Saturday and Sunday (September 11 and 12) from 11 AM until 8 PM. Kayaks will only be available Sunday.

School Bus Stop ReminderSchool is back in session and as kids wait for the bus, we wanted to send a reminder to those who have bus riders. Please do not park on pipestems and loop lanes while waiting to pick up or drop off your bus riders. These are private streets.

Grange and Greens Blasting NoticeAir Power Inc. is working on a construction project at the corner of Quail Ridge Lane and John Mosby Highway which may result in audible blasting in the proximity of Willowsford property. The project involves building a data center and a sub station and will start in approximately two weeks.
Additional blasting will be taking place in Section 18 of the Greens behind Dahlia Manor between 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM for the next few weeks.

Community Standards InspectionsThe following sections can expect to see our Community Standards Administrator, Tracey M., completing Comprehensive Inspections over the next month: The Grant – Sections 9A, 9B; The Greens - 5B, 7A, and 7B. Click here to determine what section you're in. You may also see Tracey performing resale inspections and following up on other matters. When out on the property, both our Community Standards Manager, Sierra, and Tracey M. will be dressed in Willowsford gear (most namely, a bright orange vest) and/or wearing an ID lanyard, carrying an iPad for photos, or a notepad and pen when out on property performing inspections.

Patrick joined Team Willowsford in May of 2020. He assists with work orders, maintenance of amenities, and general upkeep. Patrick lives in Leesburg with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys spending his time in the great outdoors!

Modern Food PreservationSaturday, September 18th from 11 AM - 2 PM at Sycamore House. Come and explore preservation practices of the past and present and create some modern takes on classic preserves. From canning to pickling, curing to fermenting; food has been preserved since the beginning of time and coloring the culinary history every culture. Create delicious, modern preserved items and learn how to create inspired dishes using them. Preservation spans far beyond your grandmother’s jellies and jams. Chef Val Logan joins Chef Emily in the kitchen as your guide.
With classical training and experience in fine dining, hotels and catering, Chef Val brings a unique approach to food preservation and its expansive uses. You will leave this class with an arm full of your own preserved foods to take home and a belly full of fun and flavorful ways to use them! Lunch will be designed to showcase and utilize the preserves. Menu includes Farm Kimchi, Preserved Lemons, Preserved Fruit or Fruit Spread, and Gravalax. Cost is $85/person, 21+ only. Austrian Wine Duel with Chef Bonnie Saturday, September 25th from 6:30 - 9 PM at The Lodge. Join Chef Bonnie Moore, Sommelier Nick Materese and Austrian Wine Importer, Klaus Wittauer as they guide you through a taste comparison of Austrian wines alongside a series of small plates. Chef Bonnie’s menu illustrates Austrian wines pair well with cuisine from around the world. Each dish will be paired with dueling glasses of wine and you decide which pairing wins. Wildflowers and Pollinators at the Grange MeadowWednesday, September 15th at 5 PM, Wet Meadow in The GrangeMeadows are one of the most dynamic and complex ecosystems found in nature. Their impact on human and animal life is often underestimated. Join Willowsford Conservancy for a walk through one of our meadow systems and explore what lives there, how meadows affect the surrounding environment, and what the Conservancy does to manage them.- Max 15 participants. Conservancy Planning SurveyThe Conservancy invites residents to participate in a survey as part of the strategic planning and visioning process, "Planting the Future".
