Community Garden Club

Community Garden Club was created to assist in preparing, launching and, most importantly, sustaining the Willowsford community garden space. Interested in renting a garden plot? Open registration begins on Monday, March 28th. Prior year plot holders will have access to register before open registration. Please review the Community Garden Guidelines for more information. The season runs April 1st through November 30th.

Board Meeting Summary

The Board met March 10th. This was the final Board meeting for Bill Atwill (4 yrs.), Lisa Bradford (2 yrs.), and Harry Pugh (2 yrs.). Thank you for your service to the community! Couldn’t make the meeting, but want to know what we have been up to and what is going on in the community? The following notable actions were taken: The Board approved the annual Facility Use Agreement with the Willowsford Waves Swim Team, rescinded the photography policy created by Development and directed management to incorporate key related items into the Amenity Use Guidelines, and provided direction regarding formation of an ad-hoc playground improvement committee. The playground related committee charter and member appointments is expected to be on the May Board agenda. Additionally, the Board discussed items including overnight parking, Community Voice capital improvement submission, annual community survey timeline, and items remarked on by residents during resident comment period . Following the Board meeting, the Founder approved the DRC and Board recommendations to amend the Property Maintenance and Design Standards specifically related to Variances and Outdoor Lighting. Those amendments, approved minutes, and other documents are available to view on WillowsfordLife.com in the Document Center.  

Amenity Usage Guidelines - Unaccompanied Minors

As a friendly reminder, residents may not leave unaccompanied minors under the age of 14 in the facilities or buildings. Members are responsible for their own conduct and the conduct of their children, relatives, and guests.

Lifeguarding is a great summer job for high school and college students, teachers, retirees, and others with summer availability. Recycling Guide

Recycling first depends on you making the choice to do so. When recycling, it’s extremely important to clean every item so it’s spotless. This prevents other materials from becoming contaminated while being transported to recycling facilities. Please view American Disposal's Recycling Guide for more information on what can be recycled. 

Annual Meeting & Online Election Next Wednesday!

The HOA Annual Meeting will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Sycamore House and Via Zoom 6:30 PM. There are 3 seats up open for 2-year terms. Each eligible household should have received an email with unique credentials to access the Willowsford voting website. Please visit www.tieivote.com and enter your unique username and password listed in the email. You will be directed to Willowsford Homeowners Association’s voting website where you can view the official notice and information about the annual meeting, view materials regarding the election, and access to the online ballot. Please take advantage of this system. We encourage you to vote online prior to the annual meeting. Voting will close at noon on March 23rd. We encourage you to attend the meeting to learn the results of the election, meet your neighbors and learn more about your community. At the conclusion of the Annual Meeting, the new Board will hold a brief Organizational Meeting.

Beer Pairing Dinner Featuring Old Ox Brewery

LAST CHANCE! Saturday, March 26th from 6 - 8 PM at Sycamore House. Willowsford Kitchen invites you to an exclusive Beer Pairing Dinner featuring Old Ox Brewery! Old Ox Brewery is a family owned and operated commercial brewery with locations in Ashburn and Middleburg. Wine Club

NEW! Friday, March 25th from 6 - 9 PM at The Lodge. Spend an evening tasting 6 Spanish wines paired with tapas! You'll get a pour of each wine and one of each food item to go with the wines. Enjoy chicken, shrimp, cheeses, and beef items provided by a caterer.  There will be munchies and dessert, too. Cost is $45 per person, 21+ only. Maximum capacity is 40 people. Please pay via Venmo @Karie-Zipper (if you don't have Venmo message Karie thru Facebook for another option but this preferred) In the notes indicate "Wine Club 3/25 Ticket". NEW! On April 1st from 6:30 - 10 PM at The Lodge, Willowsford's Brew Club is hosting a guest speaker from Capital Meadery! The speaker will discuss the meadery as well as their craft meads and hard ciders. Please bring a dish, your favorite cider or beverage, or your own home brew to share with your neighborhood enthusiasts. This event is 21+ only. RSVP “Meadery” to  willowsfordbrewclub@gmail.com.

Archery Club

Willowsford Archery Club (WAC) is a non-profit organization that promotes the sport of archery in Willowsford, provides a safe place for residents to shoot, and encourages social interaction among participants. Willowsford's Archery Range is open from dawn-to-dusk to WAC members (year-round) featuring targets at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 60 yards, with shooting positions under a pavilion roof, along with some picnic tables. The club teaches several "Intro to Archery" classes each year which allows members and prospective members to try out new bows and equipment. Our neighborhood developmental swim team, Willowsford Waves, is excited to kick off our eighth summer swim season! To accommodate all interested swimmers in our community, the Waves will be fielding two teams this summer: a North team for residents of The Grange & The Grant that will practice at Sycamore Pool, and a South team for residents of The Greens & The Grove that will practice at Lodge Pool. Our state-of-the-art Fitness Center is located inside The Lodge in The Greens. The facility offers Matrix cardio machines, circuit training weight machines and free weights. Cardio machines include iPhone/iPod connectors and personal TV stations. Key fob access is available to residents in good standing.

Greenhouse Seeding

Are you interested in learning more about where your food comes from? Join us at the beginning of its journey in the greenhouse with greenhouse lead, Farmer Rachel. Every Monday until the end of April, she’ll show/talk to you about: how to make flats, the recommended depth of the seed based on variety, germination rates and more. By the end you’ll be a pro!

What to Bring/Wear: Older clothes, gardening gloves, boots, water bottle, hat

Parking: Parking is available at the Farm Stand. Continue straight down the gravel driveway and the greenhouse is located at the top of the hill just inside the Farm gate to the right.


Build-a-Birdbox

There is no shortage in the variety of wildlife to see in Willowsford, birds are no exception. Learn how to build-a-birdbox with our Land Stewardship Director, Taryn McFarland. Afterwards, take home your finished project and witness the wild birds that you attract to your own backyard!

Next week is the beginning of Feathered Fosters! Register to foster a couple of adorable Farm chicks, right in your own home! Bring home a pair of Willowsford Farm baby chicks for a week and live a miniature agricultural experience with your entire family! We still have limited space left for interested foster parents!
