HOA Election Results
Congratulations to the new HOA Board of Directors: Fred Ferares (President), Brian Bobby (Treasurer), Alisha Malik (Secretary), Frank Blackstone (Vice President), and Harry Pugh (Director-at-Large)! The Organizational Meeting, to determine officer positions, was held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting on March 23rd. To all the candidates—thank you for your willingness to assist in the continued success of Willowsford. Approximately 450 households voted in the election. The 2023 Annual Meeting Presentation is available to view in the Document Center online. Mike Russiello left the Board of Directors after 5 years of services! If you see Mike, please thank him for his service. Mike has been a major contributor to Willowsford’s transition from Developer control to resident control and the community’s overall success! Thank you, Mike!
Board Meeting Summary
The Board met March 16th. Couldn’t make the meeting, but want to know what we have been up to and what is going on in the community? Click here to review the Community Manager Report. The following notable actions were taken:
The Board ratified the following email decision due to its time sensitive nature: investments. The Board also approved revisions to the investment standards policy and accepted the FY22 Draft Audit. The Treasurer provided an update on the Association’s financials as of the most recent monthly reports. Approved Minutes, and other documents are available to view on WillowsfordLife.com in the Document Center. The next Board meeting is scheduled for April 20th at 5:30 PM at Sycamore House and available on Zoom.
Street Tree & Common Area Mulching
Down to Earth Landscaping (DTE) has begun mulching common areas and street trees throughout the community. This means spring is right around the corner! The Grange and The Grant are nearly complete; The Grove and The Greens are expected to be completed in the next few weeks, weather permitting. We look forward to having everything mulched and looking great for spring!
Golf Cart Usage
As the temperature starts to get warmer, we see more people walking, running, and biking on the trails. We have also started to see a lot of golf carts. While there is no rule prohibiting the use of golf carts in Willowsford, county and state guidelines must be followed. Golf carts may only be driven by a licensed driver (VA Code 46.2-916.3) and generally are not permitted on public (VDOT) streets and sidewalks (VA Code 46.2-903 and VA Code 46.2-916.3). However, golf carts may be driven on public streets with a posted speed limit of 25mph or less if they display a slow-moving vehicle emblem in conformity with VA Code 46.2-1081. On common area trails that are not along VDOT streets, golf carts should yield to pedestrians, bikers, etc. and pull off the trail as they pass.
Overnight On-Street Parking Reminder
Willowsford’s Community Charter prohibits overnight parking of vehicles on public or private streets. Feedback from a resident survey conducted in 2021 showed that the majority of those participating in the survey wanted to keep the existing rule and enforcement procedures. Overnight on-street parking can cause safety hazards including restricting access for emergency vehicles and residents. Violations for overnight on-street parking may result in sanctions and loss of privileges. Click here for additional information and FAQs.
