camping

Camping 101: Hands-on at the Campsite – Please join us at the Grant Family Campsite on Saturday, June 3, 2017 between 2 and 5 PM and learn why camping is the nation's fastest growing recreational activity!

Fresh air, rustling leaves, star lit skies and evenings around the campfire. Quality time spent with the kids, talking and playing their favorite camp games. Learn about family camping (car camping) and the different types of equipment you will need: including tents or hammocks, sleeping bags, pads, camp furniture, cooking equipment, games, clothes, hygiene, campsite safety and comfort, and leave-no-trace.

We will setup a family style campsite for you to look over and talk about the basics you need to know. Camping doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive, it’s all about preparation and organization. Learn how to organize, store and pack your equipment and where and how to set up your campsite.

Basic family camping gear we will talk about includes:

  • Tents and hammocks
  • Sleeping bags and pads
  • Cots and air mattresses
  • Lanterns
  • Chairs and camp furniture
  • Camp tools
  • Stoves and cooking equipment
  • Coolers
  • Clothes and personal hygiene
  • First Aid
  • Games and other activities

Consider renting a Grant campsite pad to set up your camping gear and stay the night (campsites are rented separately from this event and on a first-come, first-served basis). Register here.

Our pick-your-own berry beds will be producing soon and we’ve got some weeding to do to keep them happy and healthy. We will also be trellising tomatoes, planting more flowers, and may pitch in on a project or two up at the Farm. *Please park in the lot adjacent to the Farm Garden. RSVP here.

Willowsford Farm Tour:
NEW LOCATION  Sunday, June 11 from 4 to 5 PM at the farm in The Grange. This tour will begin in the Farm Garden, where we’ll talk about how our farm came to be, our relationship with the community, and show you around the pick-your-own garden. Then we’ll walk up to the space the farmers call “the home farm” in The Grange. We'll show you what's being harvested now, what's growing for later harvests, give you a peek inside our high tunnels, and introduce you to our small flock of hens and the newest goats joining our targeted grazing team. This is a great tour for families, veggie-loving neighbors, home gardeners, beginner farmers, students and teachers. This is a great tour for local food consumers, beginner farmers, students, teachers and folks interested in weekly volunteer work at the Farm. *Please park in the lot adjacent to the Farm Garden. RSVP here.
