A Word About Ticks

Willowsford Conservancy’s general policy is to avoid pesticides that kill beneficial insects and pose hazards to humans and wildlife. We recognize that ticks and tick-borne disease have become prevalent in Loudoun County. We recommend the commonly prescribed protocols of wearing light colored clothing, including long-sleeved shirts and long pants with tucked-in pant legs, and shoes that cover the foot, and checking and changing clothing after outdoor activity. The best prevention is to frequently check yourself and your clothing, check your children and your pets.  DEET-based repellents that contain 20% to 30% DEET have also been shown to be effective.

To reduce exposure to ticks, playgrounds are sprayed with cedar oil monthly during spring, summer and fall. Established trails are mowed bi-weekly, and wooded trails are monitored to keep vegetation from encroaching.  Grassland areas are generally mowed twice per year and buffer strips are mowed bi-weekly along grassland areas that adjoin resident property.  Please report any overgrown trail segments to the HOA or Conservancy.

From the Developer

As the weather warms and our residents enjoy the outdoors, this is a friendly reminder that the purpose of the Information Centers is to provide community and builder information to prospective purchasers. We ask that you visit the Lodge or the Sycamore House, your HOA community centers, so that our Guides are able to focus their attention on their professional duties. The Boat House and the Tenant House are developer buildings in use for sales purposes between the hours of 11am and 6pm daily. If you have any questions regarding this request please email the developer at questions@willowsford.com

Call for Volunteers

The HOA Board of Directors and Founder are interested in incorporating resident volunteers in the Design Review Process.  As Willowsford nears transition from the Founder Control Period, the Design Review Committee and process will be entrusted to residents. In preparation, we are currently seeking interested volunteers to participate, which may include feedback and recommendations for Design Guidelines, attendance at DRC pre-review and/or committee meetings. Currently DRC meetings are held during the day, every 3 weeks during the summer months.  Please email HOA@Willowsford.com if you are interested.

Your Neighborhood Magazine

WillowsfordLife publication is exclusively for and about you, our residents. Whether it be submitting pictures, writing articles, advertising, or providing general feedback; be a part of WillowsfordLife! Email HOA@willowsford.com with your ideas.
