Santa Comes to Willowsford

Santa is coming to Willowsford! He'll be here on Saturday, December 8th from 11 AM to 4:30 PM.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at Sycamore House to hear holiday wishes and to take family photos.  Don’t forget to bring your cameras to capture the moments! Crafts and hot chocolate will also be available.  This year, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to attend.   


Gingerbread Workshop

Calling all Willowsford elves! Join us at The Lodge for a festive, fun-filled workshop. Build and decorate your own gingerbread house on Sunday, December 9th from 10:45 AM - 12 PM and 1 - 2:15 PM. The Gingerbread House Workshop is a favorite annual holiday tradition at Willowsford. Snack on grilled cheese and tomato soup while you decorate your house with sweet treats from our scrumptious candy bar.  Warm up with hot chocolate and cider and top it off with candy cane cupcakes. The gingerbread house is yours to take home.
This event is for children ages 4 and up. Children 7 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult. $55/adult + child pair OR $35/child.

Submit Your Childs' Artwork for WillowsfordLife

Do you want to be featured in the next issue of WillowsfordLife? Snow will be on the ground before you know it. Children ages 3-13: please submit a drawing showing your favorite way to spend a snow day. Kindly deliver artwork to Sycamore House or The Lodge by November 12th. On the back of submission please include: child’s name and age (may be published), plus parents’ names and address (used for verification purposes only). Submissions become the property of Willowsford HOA and may be published in a future issue.

Board of Directors Meeting 

The Board of Directors meets every other month. The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 8th at 5:30 PM at Sycamore House. ALERT: Firearms Hunt Reminder

Firearms Hunt, Monday-Friday, November 12-16 in The Grant; Grant Trails CLOSED. The Grant trails will be CLOSED throughout the week, Monday-Friday, November 12-16, for the Deer Management Program muzzleloader hunt.  Residents must observe all trail closure signs.  Trails will reopen on Saturday, November 17. 

Archery hunting in The Greens will continue to take place through November 30, from dawn to 10 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to dusk.  Trails remain open during the archery hunt.  Residents must observe posted signs, stay on trails and keep dogs leashed.  There will be no archery hunting between 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Yard Waste Information

With the seasons changing, leaves and grass clippings begin to pile up.  Remember to put out yard waste on scheduled yard waste collection days from March 1 through December 24th. Grass clippings, leaves, and twigs can be placed in biodegradable paper bags, plastic bags, or personal containers marked as ‘Yard Waste’. Republic Services does not collect dirt, bags of mulch, sod, rocks, open containers with poison ivy/oak/sumac, or uncontained brush with thorns.  For more information click here

LCSD Quarterly Meeting

The Sheriff’s Office local quarterly meeting is scheduled for November 8th. This is a great opportunity to meet and greet the command staff of the station and to come up to speed on what’s happening in your community.

Community Standards Inspection Reminder

Drive through inspections are completed in each Village weekly and a comprehensive lot inspection is performed every 18-24 months. The following sections in The Grove can expect to see Fatima and Kirk over the next few months: Grove 8B, 9A, 9B, 9C, 10A, 10B, 11A1, 11A2, 11B. Click here to determine what section your street is in. Kirk and Fatima will be dressed in Willowsford Gear and/or wearing an ID lanyard. You can expect to see them taking pictures and walking along the property.

Holiday Pie Perfection

Thursday, November 15th from 6:30 to 9 PM at The Lodge. Learn how to make tender, flaky pie crust just in time for the holidays.  You’ll be surprised just how easy it is!  We’ll bake and enjoy three classic, seasonal pies.  Each will be paired with a local wine or spirit.  Students will take home a pie dough they make in class. $65/person. Festival of Bubbles

Thursday, December 6th from 6:30 to 9 PM at The Lodge. Ring in the holiday season with Chef Bonnie and Sommelier Nick Materese as they guide you through a taste comparison of sparkling wines from around the world alongside a series of small plates.  Each dish will be paired with dueling glasses of bubbles and you decide which pairing wins. At least 8 wines and 4 small plates will be served.  $85/person.

Kids Holiday Cookie Swap from Around the World

Wednesday, December 12th from 5 PM to 7:30 PM at Sycamore House.  Join Chefs Bonnie and Sue for a holiday cookie-making workshop that will take you on a deliciously sweet trip around the globe!  The chefs will have several of the doughs ready to go so the class can assemble, fill, decorate and enjoy more cookies!  Each child will bring home a box of cookies.  All the cookies freeze well and make great gifts. In addition, the chefs will have a holiday supper of Chicken Pot Pie and Vegetable Pot Pie on hand for hungry cookie decorators.

For kids and kids at heart ages 5 and up.

Willowsford Cares 

Our Big Give event on 11/17 is at capacity, but if you were not able to sign up, you can still contribute!  Here are a few options: 

  • Drop off gently-used (or new!) winter coats, gloves, scarves, boots, hats and winter socks in all sizes (infant to adult) to the Lodge and Sycamore house during operating hours between now and the morning of November 16th. These will be donated to ShareHouse during the Big Give.
  • Purchase a $25 gift from one of the following categories and drop off or ship to Willowsford Cares - 41821 Marigold Mill Pl, Ashburn, VA 20148. These will be used for a gift shop to ensure kids and teens in poverty will receive holiday gifts at no cost to their families.  
    • Games (all ages), Hot Wheels, dolls (all ethnicities), Legos, remote control toys, craft kits
    • For teen/adult male: Sports equipment, sports clothing, headphones/earbuds, sunglasses, watch, wallet, belt, cologne

Willowsford Social Club

The Willowsford Social Club is hosting a Thanksgiving Event at The Lodge on Saturday, November 17th from 6pm until 9pm.  Please bring your favorite dish to share and a beverage to cheer!  RSVP to Viktorija Piano at ceo@thepianohomegroup.com if you would like to attend and include the dish you will be bringing.  This is a family event, kids are welcome and we will have a fun activity for them as well!

Bunco Babes 

Ornament Exchange! In December we meet for Bunco, but don’t actually play Bunco.  We have an Ornament Exchange instead. It’s a great opportunity to get together and share some holiday cheer! Please bring the following for a great evening:

NEW CLASS Early Express Kickboxing Strength  

Join us for some butt-kicking fitness.  Using Mixed Martial Arts as well as strength training, you will punch and kick away all of those extra holiday calories.  This type of workout focuses on the core, and strengthening our powerhouse.

Working with specific MMA routines, we will learn two specific routines. Each routine will spend 4 classes mastering fun combinations to burn more calories and work toward a rock solid core.  Strength portions will use bodyweight, bands, dumb bells and kettle bells and will change for each class. Fight for it!
